If you can’t take Mohammed to the mountain, take the mountain to Mohammed

1. If someone won’t understand what you want them to understand by seeing something you want them to see, bring what you want them to see to them.

I think it is a misquote in the first place. Mohammed prayed to get the mountain to come to him. .... bottom line is that I see it as meaning there is more than one way to do something. I read on a blog that people of the Islamic faith believe this is sarcastic or sneering at Mohammed or the Islamic faith. I have never thought about it that way and I have never used the idiom in a sarcastic spirit. It is a sad world when we have to watch each word we say for fear of offending. My mother used a very country idiom s that meant the same thing . She said "there is more than one way to skin a cat" . Who knows where that came from?
